Finally finished watching 步步惊心 (Scarlet Heart) tonight.
What a sad ending... Made me tear.. =(
I dunno why i like to watch period dramas...
If I had a past life I probably must have been from that era.. =S
What the show is about:
Zhang Xiao, a woman from the modern world time-travelled to the past after a freak accident.
She finds herself in the Qing Dynasty as Ma'ertai Ruoxi and after numerous attempts to
return back to the future, she gives up and adapts to that era.
With her out-of-the-box thinking and creative character, she finds herself being a good
friend to most of the royal family members and the emperor Kang Xi himself.
Having learnt history and knowing the fates of the imperial family, Ruoxi was
at first wary of the 4th Prince as she knew that he is the future emperor.
She fell in love with the 8th Prince and warns him to be wary of the 4th Prince and his followers.
Unknowingly, she has written history as this makes the 8th Prince plot against the 4th Prince.
Ruoxi tells the 8th Prince to give up on the crown if he wants to continue to be with her but he refuses.
After breaking up with him, she slowly falls for the 4th Prince...
Misunderstandings after misunderstandings, schemes after schemes occured and the
4th Prince finally became Emperor Yongzheng. Ruoxi and the king eventually fell out
with each other in the end after he became more and more paranoid and she revealed
that she was partly at fault for causing so many things to happen.
Ruoxi's health detoriates after leaving the palace. Dying, she requests to see the Yongzheng
for the last time but because of a crap misunderstanding, he didn't manage to... Sadded =(
What a sad ending as Yongzheng realises that Ruoxi really loved him and had
kept all their momentos. Zhang Xiao eventually finds herself waking up in a
hospital in the present and googled and researched about the Qing Dynasty
but can't find anything about herself (Ma'ertai Ruoxi).
One day she goes to a Qing Dyansty exhibition and meets a reincarnated version
of Emperor Yongzheng and she cried while he (not recognising her) walks away........ =((
Overall, a very good show. But what the heck...why the ending like that? =/
